The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.

I’m quoted about what age is appropriate to take a child abroad (I aimed low), but I especially like this line by Richard Webb, co-founder of ProWorld: “No matter what kind of adventure travel experience you decide on, the effect it has on your family will be immeasurable. So what was the decision, I think it could be hard with real young ones. Still, I believe that quote, no matter what the experience ends up being I think it will always be truly positive.

Yes, go! There’s nothing I’d rather do than travel with my kids. Sometimes crazy stuff happens, you’ve got to make adjustments and accomodations for them, but it’s so worth it.
