The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.
Travel writing resource mother lode: 100 fat links
Here’s a nice round-up of travel writing links—and I’m not just saying that because my homepage made the list (at #56 thankyouverymuch). “If you love to travel as much as you love to write,” reads the introduction (and I would be sure to add the converse of that statement as well), then you’ll enjoy “advice from professionals, tips, opportunities to get to know other travel writers, organizations for travel writers, places to find writing jobs, and resources for traveling”:

Congratulations, esteemed #56. Well earned.
The whole list is interesting, even if it overlooked my http://travel-babel.blogspot.com. However, #28 (Write for Free) makes my blood curdle. One of the many problems confronting those of us who still try to make our livings as writers is that so many people are willing, even eager, to write for free. I started blogging because of the erosion of well-paying markets. Google AdSense’s pennies are better than nothing, but they are no substitute for a decent check from a viable publisher.
