R.I.P. Peace Corps Volunteer Kate Puzey, Murdered in Benin

Very sad news from West Africa: 24-year-old Kate Puzey, a PCV from Georgia, was found murdered in her village in Benin. I’m told that the entire nation is mourning, and villagers are outraged that this could happen. According to the Fallen Peace Corps Volunteers Memorial Project, “more than 180,000 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in 138 countries” since John F. Kennedy created the program in 1961. “Of these dedicated men and women, 274 have sacrificed not only their energies and time, but also their lives while pursuing the Peace Corps mission.”
The Kate Puzey Memorial Fund has been established “to help causes Puzey believed in,” her father said. Donations can be sent to: c/o Smith, Gambrell, and Russel, LLP, Suite 3100, 1230 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30309-3592.

Am appalled by what I am seeing on 20/20 right now. You are serving vibrant, beautiful, innocent, bright young women up and abandoning them! Your inaction and that poor excuse of a representative for Director Aaron S. Williams disgusts me. Reprehensible!!!! Disgraceful!!!I tried to post my outrage on their wall but was promptly ushered to some cyber space “other” area”. Aaron S. Williams your hiding makes me ill. I pray that you don’t have any daughters…because you will reap, it might not be what you have directly sown, but you have facilitated (and continue to do so) and subsequently enabled these crimes against women. I will not give so much as a quarter to the Peace Corps until the Puzeys and ALL of those women receive their justice.
This is so terrible, and it deeply saddens me how this happened. I’m so sorry for the family, but the very least, their daughter was a wonderful wonderful young lady.
