The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.

Just a reminder that my coauthor, Randy Wood, and I are always available to answer your questions about traveling in Nicaragua. At the moment, Randy is in West Africa and I’m in Colorado, but we meet with our readers every day on the user forum of our site, GoToNicaragua.com. Recent topics of discussion include accessing ATMs, how to get off the beaten path (VERY easy in Nicaragua), where to find a surf camp or condo, and how to avoid election-related hot spots of violence which flared up in November.
