Tales and Trails: Adam Klein’s Music from the World

I’ve traveled with singer-songwriter Adam Klein in Honduras, Israel, and most recently, Guatemala, where we led a group of students on an alternative break trip together in the northern village of Rabinal; one night, while the students slept below after a long day of lifting stones and mixing cement, I helped Adam compose a song about Don Fernando, an ancient, smiling campesino with whom we’d been working all week.

Adam spent two-and-a-half years in the Peace Corps in Mali, where he sang and performed songs in the Bambara language (and even produced a radio show with the country’s top musicians), and he recently played a string of shows in Ireland, England, Netherlands, and Scotland. Adam’s unique, personal version of folk alt-country is recorded on his own label, Cowboy Angel Music, and his newest album, “Western Tales and Trails,” is nearly complete.
