The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.
An Ode to Our Notebooks … Moleskinerie Legends and Other Stories
I’m proud to be included in this artists’ gallery at moleskinerie.com. Click on “see the gallery” and see if you can find my notebook on a green café table (in Casablanca). I used dabs of Moroccan coffee on my finger to color in the hills I’d drawn during an overnight layover in Dakar. Then I wrote words across the West African sky about the imminent end of our round-the-world trip—while drinking the rest of my coffee and watching men play cards at the next table.
For my participation in this exhibit I will receive one of these limited edition Moleskines, made especially for the website’s 4th anniversary celebrations. Now I just need something to write in it.
More notebook porn.

Happy travels with you personalized Moleskine. I wish I were disciplined and insightful enough to be worthy of writing my thoughts and impressions in Moleskine travel journals, but I confess to writing tidbits and trivia that I wish to remember in cheap little spiral notebooks (preferably the kind w/ the spiral on top) that fit into my pocket. Alternatively, those little memo papers that hotels put next to telephones. But these are inspiring!
