fruit-animation.GIFIf there’s one thing the U.S. does not need to be exporting around the world, it is the abuse of civil liberties in the name of homeland security. The Foundation for Self-Sufficiency in Central America, a reputable non-profit organization with whom I have worked, reports: “In response to a peaceful protest against water privatization, the government arrested fourteen grassroots leaders and charged them with terrorism.” Here is the time-line of events; it appears the prisoners have been released, but the terrorism charges have not been dropped and the trial still stands.

The FSSCA site lists a few action items, if you’d like to help, as well as opportunities to plant fruit trees and feed schoolchildren (only $10 a tree, which you can plant in honor of a loved one).
