The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.
Tranquilo Family Travelers
Currently making their way across Libya, this is no ordinary family of nomads. The Escampettes are experientially homeschooling their three teenage children as they drive across the world. Their family website is unlike any travel site I’ve ever seen. This is their second round-the-world trip together.
You can follow another vagabond family’s adventures at Six in the World, a “normal family of six taking 365 days out of our everyday lives to circumnavigate the world, explore interesting places, make new friends, and learn a little more about ourselves and the world we inhabit.” Anne and Tom Andrus are currently with their four children in Chennai, India, where they are working with a local organization in various villages.

Thanks so much for these two links. My husband and I have finally decided to start a family after years of vagabonding. We always feared a quick death in the suburbs would follow, but these families show that it’s possible to continue embracing experiences rather than stuff.
