Our first weekend out of Nuwara Eliya was a sensory-soaked trip to Sri Lanka’s steamy interior, a.k.a. the “Cultural Triangle.” 2,000-year-old ruins and modern Buddhism in action — or should I say, “in contemplation.”

In fact, the experience is nearly overwhelming, and I’m having a difficult time sorting through 500 photographs and many, many journal pages of excited scratches.

In the meantime, as I struggle through the perfect blog entry (life is so hard, I know), here are a couple of scenes.

(Oh yeah, it was my birthday weekend. That’s me above, celebrating.)
