Since we orginally opted for a domestic flight from Delhi to Calcutta (back in August), our current westbound journey by rail and bus completes our bragging rights to a subcontinental overland crossing — from Pakistan’s Hunza Valley to the Bhutan border.

My side-obsession with map-making has found company in my wife’s roots, as I just learned that her grandfather, her “Dado,” was a cartogographer. Our reason for coming to Pakistan and India was based entirely around my in-laws’ unique connections to this part of the world, but Dado’s maps are a whole new branch of the story and I can’t wait to learn more.

If you haven’t already, read “The Size Of The World” by Jeff Greenwald. It is about his efforts to circle the globe without ever leaving the ground. Very interesting read. Miss you guys!
