Peace Corps Writers is an online literary magazine by, for, and about returned Peace Corps Volunteers who happen to be writers (there are quite a few). They treat “Peace Corps writing” as its own genre — Americans abroad who are engaged with and inspired by their host communitites, as opposed to the Lost Generation (expat writers of the 1920s and 1930s in Europe), who expressed being more disillusioned than integrated with their host country nationals.

In any case, it’s an interesting site, with a monthly list of new books by Peace Corps authors, and, beginning this week, a blog. With entries of up to 2,000 words, this may turn into a bear, but time will tell. The prospect of volunteers posting from around the world has potential. The site and blog fulfill the Third Goal of the Peace Corps — to bring the world back home.
