The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.
Outside Traveler Article
I wrote a short article in the current newsstand issue of Outside Traveler magazine (Winter 2006, pp. 86-87). My three reviews of Belize jungle lodges appear in a larger story about the country by Bruce Barcott, Leslie Weeden, and Granville Greene. I won’t see the piece for quite some time, so let me know if anyone finds it.

Hi Joshua,
Yep, I have the issue here in my hands: your articles are on pp. 86-7 about Hidden Valley Inn, Blancaneaux Lodge, and The Lodge at Chaa Creek. Nice job!
Hey, I’m a freelancer out in Northern California interested in contributing to these Outside Traveler special editions, as well. Seems like they use mostly freelance content — mind telling me how you got hooked up to write for them? Is it hard to break into their book, or are they pretty open?
Thanks and congrats on the articles!
Megan
