The Tranquilo Traveler
The Tranquilo Traveler is a celebration of voluntourism, slow travel, and other interesting ways to see the world. Travel writer and award- winning Moon Handbooks author Joshua Berman created The Tranquilo Travel as a resource for world trippers and international volunteers, a window to the author’s travels in Nicaragua, Belize, and beyond, and an update of his books and articles.

I think this quote sums up the reason behind why people are prejudice. We fear what we do not know or understand. By traveling we meet people who are diferent than us and we experience culturess taht we never experienced outside our own little world.

This quote is why I encourage all the youth I work with (in class, in girl scouts, in church) to get out there and volunteer abroad. At age 14, our daughter went on a trip to Cartago, Costa Rica through Girl Scouts and Cross Cultural Solutions. An amazing experience!
Americans, more than any other people in the world - need to learn to live by Twains quote!
They are ignorant in thinking their bankrupt culture is paramount in the world

Cesare, you have shown your own ignorance by your statement.
Twain’s quote pertains to all humans, not just Americans. The vast majority of people in this world have never traveled beyond their own borders and are therefore shackled by their limited experiences and prejudice. You have given us a stark example of this “prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness”.
